The work you'll do
In our 53-chair outpatient oncology treatment unit (Gonda 10E), you will:
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and advanced cancer therapies
- Support patients through education, therapeutic communication, and emotional care
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on innovative treatments and research

The primary role of the RN in this position is administration of chemotherapeutic agents and patient education in the outpatient setting.

Orientation and Growth

Your orientation includes:
- 12+ hours of structured chemotherapy education
- 12 hours of cancer core knowledge
- Three months of guided, hands-on learning
As cancer care continues to evolve, we prepare our nurses not only for today's patients, but for the therapies shaping the future of oncology care.
It's also an exciting time to join our team, with a 15-chair expansion planned for early 2027.
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for:
- Coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
- Supporting professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
- Functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing:
Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. - Providing leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
