WHAT DO WE DO?
CHSI is a private, non-profit organization established in 1973 to serve the health needs of migrant & seasonal farm workers and their family members. Today, CHSI has expanded its services and provides mental & physical healthcare to all individuals in our communities. Our services are provided on a more affordable sliding fee scale to those who are under-insured or uninsured. We also accept ND and MN Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance plans.
We currently operate four nurse-managed clinics, two mobile medical units, and two victim advocacy program centers in Minnesota & North Dakota.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who will work eight hours per week with expertise in medication evaluation and management to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric nursing and a passion for optimizing mental health care for individuals from diverse backgrounds. You will play a crucial role in providing expert evaluation, prescription, and monitoring of psychotropic medications to our diverse patient population.
Your focus on precise medication management will significantly contribute to the overall well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities
Diagnoses and provides medication treatment for people with psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, and medical problems.
Duties and Accountabilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Diagnose mental health disorders and develop personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring patient understanding and compliance.
- Educate patients and families about mental health disorders, treatment options.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, therapists, and interpreters, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding in all interactions, respecting patients' beliefs and traditions.
- Maintain detailed and culturally sensitive patient records, adhering to all privacy and confidentiality regulations.
- Prepare reports as required, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and clinic policies in all documentation and reporting activities.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- In an eight-hours work week, the employee must be able to: bend and crouch occasionally, sit continuously and stand or walk frequently.
- Employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Employee must be able to use hands/arms, feet/legs for repetitive fine to large motor skill.
Qualifications
:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in psychiatric nursing from an accredited institution. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Knowledgeable about adult, adolescent, and child psychiatric disorders, and advanced principles of abnormal psychology.
- Experience working with diverse and underserved populations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on cultural competency.
- Knowledge of community resources and social services to support patients' holistic well-being.
- Commitment to providing high-quality, culturally competent mental health care to individuals and families in the community.
- Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical record documentation.
- Obtain computer skills using Microsoft Office products including Outlook.
