Quality Engineer I

As a Quality Engineer I you will design, install, and evaluate quality assurance systems, processes, and statistical techniques, ensuring manufacturing, inspection, testing, and shipping activities meet customer, regulatory, and internal standards. You will collaborate across engineering functions and with customers and suppliers to address quality‑related issues.
SummaryDesign and evaluate QA process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques. Specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment, analyze production limitations and standards, monitor manufacturing processes, and formulate QA policies and training. Interface with engineering functions and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues.
Responsibilities- Analyze contract requirements to determine quality characteristics, necessary controls, and special skills.
- Validate Statistical Process Control (SPC) limits and conduct audits to ensure correct use and corrective action when limits are exceeded.
- Review contract data and establish controls for compliance.
- Create control plans aligned with customer, product, regulatory, and sector requirements.
- Participate in pilot and pre‑production runs, providing basic analysis of results.
- Review manufacturing specifications to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Establish quality controls for all production processes and testing during the product cycle.
- Generate and review specification drawings and Acceptance Test Procedures.
- Perform measurement capability and correlation studies when applicable.
- Monitor special test programs for assemblies, components, and processes due to design changes or production issues.
- Inspect and test pre‑production equipment to ensure compliance before customer acceptance.
- Prepare summaries and analyses, including charts and graphs, under guidance of senior engineers.
- Maintain records and documentation related to quality assurance.
- Conduct quality audits to assess program effectiveness and prepare audit reports.
- Participate in First Article Configuration Inspections of hardware versus drawings and specifications.
- Prepare corrective‑action documentation in response to customer inquiries or complaints.
- Drive corrective, preventive, and closure actions for quality and test non‑conformances.
- Improve the site’s quality organization’s problem‑solving capability for customer complaints and internal corrective actions.
- Analyze reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates to quality standards.
- Use Key Process Indicators (KPIs) to determine process effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Support cross‑functional teams on quality improvement projects focused on process improvements, scrap reduction, and supplier quality.
- Write verification and validation documentation and conduct required testing.
- Assist in standardizing manufacturing processes for global customer accounts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- High attention to detail and ability to work with diverse groups.
- Demonstrated discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently or in teams with minimal supervision.
- Understanding and use of continuous improvement tools (e.g., Six Sigma, FMEA, DPMO, FPY).
- Knowledge of domestic and international standards and regulations (FDA QSR Part 820, ISO, ITAR, IATF).
- 4‑year engineering or technical degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0‑3 years of electronics manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Web Ex conferencing software.
- Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required.
Compensation range: $63,328.00 to $79,160.00 USD. Benchmark provides a comprehensive benefits package, including a bonus plan, 401(k), paid time off, and health, dental, and vision insurance.
