Position DescriptionThe Biomedical Ethics Coordinator assists with multidisciplinary research analysis using a variety of analytical, quantitative, and qualitative research skills. The incumbent will serve as a study coordinator/research analyst for Dr. Richard Sharp at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Research projects will encompass both empirical studies and bioethics work that is more conceptual in nature. Studies focus on ethical issues of new technologies, with a particular emphasis on genomics, AI, and/or digital health technologies.
Experience in empirical bioethics research is highly desirable.
- Conducting literature searches
- Drafting and writing abstracts and manuscripts
- Assisting with protocol design, data collection, and analysis strategies
- Facilitating study recruitment
- Collecting qualitative and quantitative data
- Analyzing data within a team structure
- Managing IRB submissions and obtaining consent from research participants
- Creating presentation materials for conferences
- Collaborating with pre- and post-doctoral students and trainees in biomedical ethics training programs
- Bachelor degree (Master’s preferred) including substantial coursework in bioethics or health-related social sciences (psychology, medical sociology, medical anthropology, or public health)
- Excellent writing skills. A single-authored writing sample may be requested if not attached to the application.
- Research experience demonstrating strong background in qualitative, quantitative and/or applicable methodologies (e.g., conceptual or normative analysis)
- Interest and experience in studying ethical issues related to AI & digital health technologies or genomic technologies
- Ability to work independently and/or collaborate with multidisciplinary team members during all phases of the research process
- Able to think logically and systematically analyze alternative solutions to problem solving
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, and critical thinking skills
