Job Responsibilities

The biomedical ethics coordinator assists with multidisciplinary research analysis using a variety of analytical, quantitative, and qualitative research skills. The coordinator conducts comprehensive literature searches related to biomedical ethics initiatives and compiles and summarizes written and electronic data for research projects. They research funding sources and collect necessary documents for participating in external research collaborations. The coordinator writes draft reports that clearly and concisely summarize and illustrate projects’ findings, outcomes and results.

They draft sections of grants, abstracts and manuscripts, collect and assist in designing data analysis strategies, evaluate data needs and methods of data collection, implement the data collection protocol including IRB submissions, obtain consent and conduct interviews with study participants, assist in reviewing study methods, evaluate the reliability of data sources to ensure data integrity, maintain and complete appropriate study documents according to the study protocol, institutional policies, and government regulations, and coordinate multiple project assignments while meeting timelines.

They also design and maintain quantitative and qualitative databases including management and updating of data.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree including substantial coursework in bioethics or health‑related social sciences (psychology, medical sociology, medical anthropology, or public health) and research experience demonstrating a strong qualitative and/or quantitative background.
  • Experience with previous research projects that had a quantitative and/or qualitative focus.
  • Competent to work independently in most phases of research analysis, requiring only general instructions and direction.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and research methodology.
  • Ability to think logically and systematically analyze alternative solutions in problem‑solving.
  • Knowledgeable about the current health‑care delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in bioethics.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (medical anthropology, bioethics, public health) desirable.
  • This position requires a Minnesota background check.

Compensation

$61,755–92,644 annually. Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.

  • Schedule Details: M–F normal business hours. This position will work remotely and on site 3+ days per week on the Rochester, MN campus. Business needs require employees to live a reasonable driving distance from Rochester, MN.
