Sales Associate

Position overview:

Part-time Sales Associates support customer service, drive sales, and help keep the store organized and stocked. They provide a seamless checkout experience and work to meet store goals while delivering a positive shopping environment.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist customers promptly; acknowledge customers and provide assistance as needed, handling multiple customers efficiently.
• Understand and meet customer needs by sharing product knowledge, answering questions, directing to merchandise, and offering recommendations; engage in suggestive selling while staying informed on product availability.
• Promote store events and promotions by informing customers about current events and activities to enhance their shopping experience and drive sales.
• Resolve customer concerns by using product knowledge to offer alternatives, aiming to turn returns into exchanges when possible.
• Communicate needs to management by informing them about merchandise restocking, service requirements, and customer feedback in a timely manner.
• Support team and company goals by collaborating with the team to achieve store objectives and contribute to a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

• At least 16 years old
• Available to work a flexible schedule
• Comfortable with or willing to learn technology (such as cash registers, handheld and mobile devices)
• Good communicator with the ability to engage with customers
• Able to handle customer interactions and potential issues courteously and professionally
• Use basic information-gathering skills to solve problems
• Ability to learn procedural knowledge acquired through on-the-job training

Essential Job Functions:

• Frequently operate a cash register
• Frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and place/remove merchandise up to a height of 5-10 feet
• Frequently ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and stock merchandise
• Frequently position self to kneel, bend, twist, and stoop, including in the stock room and on the sales floor
• Frequently communicate with customers and coworkers, both face-to-face and by telephone, and exchange accurate information
• Frequently move across the sales floor to assist customers and retrieve stock from the stock room
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs, including day, evening, weekends, and possibly overnight shifts and travel as required
• Identify and discern email and print instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures
• Remain in a stationary, upright position for up to 80% of the time
