Applications Engineer – Industrial Fluid & Water Treatment

Compensation: $75,000 - $125,000 base plus uncapped commissions

A rapidly expanding, highly respected systems integrator specializing in custom, automated industrial water treatment and process solutions is seeking an Applications Engineer to manage a SE Minnesota territory. This consultative, high-autonomy field role blends engineering problem-solving with capital sales, offering a direct-hire seat with a lean, non-bureaucratic organization and clear pathways into Regional or Sales Manager leadership.

• Serve as the primary technical consultant and Territory Manager across SE Minnesota, balancing new account acquisition with high-value account retention
• Conduct technical field assessments for manufacturing plants, food/beverage facilities, and industrial sites managing high- and low-pressure water systems
• Evaluate water chemistry metrics, fluid dynamics, and process constraints to design custom, automated chemical and treatment systems
• Partner directly with facility managers and chief engineers to engineer mechanical upgrades, fluid control systems, and chemical treatment protocols
• Guide complex enterprise sales cycles from technical prospecting and proposal design to executive presentations, closing, and account growth
• Maintain an organized driving schedule throughout SE Minnesota, spending time on-site conducting face-to-face engineering reviews
• Work closely with internal applications staff to optimize custom equipment configurations for complex field applications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental preferred)
• 3+ years of technical B2B sales or consultative engineering experience managing complex capital equipment or industrial process control solutions
• Practical understanding of industrial water treatment chemistry, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, or fluid handling systems
• Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding technical sales goals and expanding territory revenue
• Capability and willingness to manage a regional footprint with regular daily field travel
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card) required, residing within a comfortable 55-minute daily driving radius of the Rochester, MN area

• Existing commercial relationships or familiarity with industrial manufacturing plants in SE Minnesota
• Certified Water Technologist (CWT) credential or specialized training in industrial water management
• Exposure to automated dosing pumps, chemical feed controllers, and online monitoring telemetry

• Baseline salary from $75,000 to $125,000, scaling directly with technical depth
