Elevator Service Mechanic – Rochester, MN / La Crosse, WI Territory
As our Elevator Service Mechanic, you will analyze, problem‑solve, and collaborate with subcontractors, general contractors, and consultants. You will adhere to project schedules, report progress to the supervisor, and support site safety in accordance with standard practice and policy. You will interpret technical documents while working in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities- All aspects of elevator maintenance, including troubleshooting problems with major elevator components (rails, pits, hoist‑way equipment, car and counterweight assemblies, machine room equipment).
- Manually wire and install smaller elevator components (roller guides, door track and linkages, hall buttons, lanterns) requiring color perception to distinguish color‑coded wiring.
- Ensure all work is performed safely in accordance with safety standards and policies to protect health and welfare.
- Speak and write clearly for internal and external communications.
- High concentration and attention to detail when wiring, installing, maintaining, and updating elevator equipment.
- Physical: walk/stand ≈80%, sit ≈20%, lift up to 100 lb (≈50% time), repetitive stooping/bending/crouching ≈70% time, travel ≈95% time.
- Environmental: perform essential job functions in field settings with exposure to non‑controlled climate conditions.
- Manual dexterity: use hands, arms, feet for repetitive lifting, operating hand and power tools, record written information; capable of operating an automobile.
- Eligible for Membership in the International Union of Elevator Constructors.
- Wages, benefits and working conditions as defined by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
The hourly wage rate is $65.21 (effective January 1, 2026) and the compensation package is based on the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
