This position performs and maintains necessary repairs and installations in steel fabrication and erection of bridges and structures. Some of the other duties may include:
- Performs concrete work for the construction/repair of bridges and structures.
- Performs carpentry duties related to bridges, buildings, and structures.
- Cleans and prepares bridges, buildings, and structure surfaces for painting.
- Assists with or leads safety inspections on bridges and structures.
- Transfers and operates the full range of heavy equipment used by MnDOT.
Two years of experience performing carpentry, concrete, or iron work; OR a combination of one or more of these activities:
- Carpentry examples may include building construction; building repairs; or framing.
- Concrete work examples may include grading; bridge construction, repair and maintenance; or forming, placing and finishing concrete.
- Iron work examples may include structural steel erection; setting anchor bolts and inserts; gusset plate installation; placement of reinforcing steel or rebar; or rebar replacement.
Educational substitution: A two-year technical trades degree or training (e.g., carpentry, concrete/masonry, etc. or equivalent) may be substituted for one year of experience.
Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license or equivalent from another state and must obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no Air Brake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6‑months of initial placement into the position and maintain it as a condition of employment.
