PositionSummary
The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting production operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This position helps minimize downtime by resolving mechanical and electrical issues, completing preventive maintenance tasks, documenting work activities in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and following established maintenance procedures.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair mechanical and operational issues on production equipment using hand and trade tools.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on production equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including starters, contractors, relays, motors, and control circuits.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Complete preventive maintenance activities on production and facility equipment according to established procedures.
- Support the operation of machinery and equipment by following maintenance schedules, manufacturer recommendations, and engineering specifications.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), wiring, conduit, fixtures, and related components.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document labor, preventive maintenance activities, corrective actions, and work orders.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Assist with facility maintenance projects and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
- Experience working with food processing and packaging equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, refrigeration, and industrial control systems is beneficial.
- Experience with vacuum packaging equipment, conveyor systems, forming equipment, freezing systems, and automated production machinery is a plus.
- Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems and hazardous material handling procedures is preferred.
- Completion of a two-year Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related technical program preferred; equivalent maintenance experience will be considered.
- One to two years of industrial maintenance experience with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 60–80 pounds as required.
- Ability to perform physical activities including bending, climbing, reaching, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions and technical documentation.
- Experience using common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in elevated areas when necessary.
- Comfortable working in refrigerated production environments maintained at approximately 40°F, with occasional work in freezer areas at 0°F or below.
