IT Intern – Research Trial Systems

The Research Trial Systems division has an opening for an IT Intern. The selected intern will assist with supporting and developing automated testing for research applications as part of a one‑year internship program.

When classes are not in session, the internship expects 40 hours per week during Monday‑Friday. When classes are in session, the internship expects at least 20 hours per week Monday‑Friday. The intern’s schedule will be coordinated with academics, but once a schedule is agreed upon it must remain consistent.

The primary purpose of the internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experience in their chosen field of study. Mentors will be assigned to provide instruction, guidance, and performance assessment. The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the assigned work unit and may be given selected work assignments to reinforce the learning experience, assess performance levels, and provide benefit to the work unit.

The intern will be responsible for completing all internship‑related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility. The duration and timing of the internship will be arranged with the intern.

• Working knowledge of API testing (SOAP and REST)
• Hands‑on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, and Playwright
• Ability to design, develop, and execute automated tests using scripting languages such as Java, C#, Visual Basic, or Python
• Working knowledge of building test strategies and test plans
• SQL skills and data validation
• Knowledge of Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD) and data‑driven automation frameworks
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as Blazemeter and JMeter
• Ability to create reusable and low‑maintenance test automation scripts

Admission:
The incumbent must be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's or graduate degree program at a college or university. Typically, this internship occurs after the student has completed most required courses. The degree program must require an internship as a graduation requirement or offer it as a credit option.

$25.00 per hour

Full Time – 20 to 80 hours per pay period; typical business hours. This is a hybrid position and the intern must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for occasional on‑site expectations.
