Job Description:

Summary:

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship experience that provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to attend development workshops, network, and be part of our company. Our college interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored under their respective managers, and continue to develop throughout the entire summer. Through the internship program, our interns can attend development workshops that are focused on key business concepts.

Interns may work within the skills-based tracks of Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other non-technical and/or technical based degree programs. This is a paid 10-week summer internship from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week).

Interns may reside in either a technical or non-technical area. Development workshops are provided to help with the transition from school to the corporate environment. Housing is not provided as part of our program.

Essential Accountabilities:

Assists in the development of rate or Medicare bid filings through analysis of benefit designs, claims experience, and expected future events.

Assists in preparation of accurate and timely trend analyses.

Assists in the development of preliminary reserve and future claim liabilities for internal and regulatory reporting.

Supports the analysis of impacts to the health plan in response to regulatory changes.

Assists in the preparation of risk adjustment analyses.

Supports risk sharing analyses, capitation development, and associated settlements.

Assists in performing analyses used in the development of financial planning, forecasting and other financial projections.

Prepares and/or maintains appropriate documentation of work.

Completes and/or supports ad-hoc analyses and projects and assists others in the department as needed.

Works with a mentor and supports key strategic projects.

Completes work assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.

Performs a mix of technical and/or non-technical tasks that will cover a broad range of business-related projects.

Creates and delivers presentations at completion of internship.

Maintain confidentiality and protection of member privacy in accordance with the company policies.

Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Desired majors include:
    Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial, & Statistics.
  • High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail changing environment and deliver high-quality work product.
  • Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with peers.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
  • Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as on intra- and inter- departmental teams as needed.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time. Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.
