Description About St. John’s PrepSt. John’s Prep is an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12. Founded on the Xaverian values of compassion, humility, simplicity, trust, and zeal, we educate students to be, do, and stand for good in the world. We enroll approximately 1,500 students from more than 90 communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

St. John’s is seeking a long-term, high school substitute religious studies teacher to cover a family leave from November 30, 2026 through March 1, 2027. Religious Studies faculty members in the High School n’s teach five sections and may be assigned additional supervisory duties. Classes meet five times within a seven-day rotating schedule. Religious Studies teachers n’s Preparatory School teach five (5) classes and are required to complete a “duty” period during each semester. Prospective candidates should display an expertise in Catholic theology, Catholic Social Teaching, and familiarity with Church History. Prospective candidates should have the competency and passion to engage, inspire, and connect with boys in a rigorous college preparatory curriculum which provides a theological foundation to better inform their faith experience, while empowering them to become young men of hope, faith, and wisdom.
Candidates should also have a desire to become an active and collegial member of an adult community of learners. We seek candidates who are open and willing to embrace a student-centered digital learning model that incorporates education technology tools, open education resources, and varied instructional strategies.

Education and Experience
- A minimum of 1-3 years of teaching high school religious studies or Catholic youth ministry experience
- A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in religious studies, theology, or a related field.
