The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Materials and Research, has a full-time vacancy for a Geotechnical Engineer Supervisor.

Compensation: $34.14/hour - $46.63/hour

SummaryTo supervise professional geotechnical engineering staff and serve as the lead technical professional in order to provide geotechnical engineering evaluations and recommendations in the design, construction and maintenance phases of statewide NHDOT civil engineering projects.
Your Experience CountsEach additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Minimum QualificationsEducation/Experience options:
Master’s degree in engineering, or a Bachelor's degree in engineering plus a Master of Business Administration (MBA);
Experience:
One year of civil engineering work post Professional Engineer licensure.
Bachelor's degree in engineering;
Experience:
Three years of civil engineering work post Professional Engineer licensure.
Associate’s degree in engineering or engineering technology;
Experience:
Five years of civil engineering work post Professional Engineer licensure.
License/Certification:
- Licensed Professional Engineer in New Hampshire or another state with Civil, Civil Highway, Geotechnical or Structural engineering designation.
- Valid driver's license and/or access to transportation for statewide travel
Other Requirements:
Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency. Trainee option:

Minimum of 12 semester hours of geotechnical engineering and/or geological courses at graduate or undergraduate level.
After-Hire RequirementsLicensed Professional Engineer in the State of New Hampshire within one year of employment.

A trainee must meet the minimum qualifications within the period specified, not to exceed one year.
ResponsibilitiesProvide geotechnical engineering guidance and technical reviews to a staff of civil engineers. Serve as the geotechnical project engineer on complex and technically difficult NHDOT projects. Complete geotechnical designs and evaluations using complex engineering analyses and current design codes. Write reports and communications to communicate geotechnical recommendations to other Department Bureaus and engineering consultants. Coordinate with designers and participate in meetings to ensure proper implementation of geotechnical elements.
Prepare contract specifications for proposed geotechnical work. Develop and recommend technical operating procedures to the Geotechnical Section Chief. Review reports from staff and consultants to ensure technically sound and cost-effective designs. Meet with construction and design bureau engineers, contractors, FHWA engineers and project managers to resolve significant geotechnical issues during construction. Serve on technical committees and provide geotechnical evaluation of foundations, earth retaining structures, or other engineering systems for NHDOT projects.
Conduct administrative duties including timesheets, leave requests, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, interviews and training.
