We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of a growing multi-family residential property management company.
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close processes, preparing financial statements, supporting budgeting and cash management activities, and partnering with operations teams to enhance financial performance and reporting accuracy.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of residential properties, while also supporting the accounting and financial management of the corporate/property management entity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Manages the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of multi-family residential properties.
- Performs monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reviews and analyze accounts payable, accounts receivable, tenant receivables, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepares and reviews monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for property ownership groups and internal management.
- Analyzes operating results against budgets and forecasts and investigate significant variances.
- Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Assists with preparation of annual operating budgets, reforecasts, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Maintains fixed asset records and software, including recording additions and disposals.
- Works closely with Property Managers and Regional Managers to provide operational financial support, reporting, and recommendations.
- Prepares and uploads monthly management fee calculations into the accounting system.
- Ensures adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assists with special projects, process improvements, and financial analysis initiatives.
- Supports annual audits, tax preparation, lender reporting, and ownership reporting requests.
- Identifies opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting efficiency, and system utilization.
- Assists with implementation, optimization, and maintenance of accounting and property management systems.
- Train, mentor, and provide guidance to accounting team as needed.
- Assists the Controller with additional projects or assignments as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller and CFO.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of accounting experience required;
Experience with multi-family residential accounting and property financial reporting preferred. - Strong technical accounting knowledge including strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including experience with formulas, pivot tables, and financial analysis.
- Experience with property management and accounting software preferred, including systems such as Sage 300, Yardi, App Folio, Timber Scan, MRI, Real Page.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple entities and competing priorities, and meet established deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
