Description We are looking for a reliable Accounts Payable Clerk to support our non-profit organization in Rochester, New York. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy, stays organized in a fast-paced environment, and can manage invoice and payment activity with care. In this role, you will help keep financial records current, work closely with vendors and internal teams, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the accounting function.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming vendor bills for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before entering them into the accounting system.

- Assign appropriate account codes to invoices and record payable transactions in a timely manner.

- Prepare scheduled payment batches, including check runs and other approved disbursement methods, while meeting established deadlines.

- Reconcile vendor statements against internal records and investigate discrepancies to ensure balances are correct.

- Maintain organized accounts payable files and supporting documentation for audit readiness and reporting needs.

- Communicate with vendors and internal staff to resolve payment questions, missing details, and invoice issues professionally.

- Update financial records regularly to reflect payments, adjustments, and outstanding obligations with a high degree of accuracy. Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Working knowledge of invoice coding, invoice entry, and payment processing procedures.

- Experience handling check runs and maintaining accurate payable documentation.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

- Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.

- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping practices.

- Proficiency with accounting software and standard office applications such as spreadsheets and email.
