- Day (United States of America) Range: UR URG 110 Compensation Range: $61,000.00 - $85,400.00 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

Performs accounting duties of a complex nature requiring advanced professional experience, knowledge and competency in accounting principles and practices for a non-centralized department. Works with broad discretion as to work details on assignments of a varied, diverse and difficult nature. Provides specialized or general analysis support in various accounting functions such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cost Accounting, General Accounting and the like.

Prepares specialized reports and analyses. Submits recommendations for improved operations. Develops and installs difficult accounting systems, methods, procedures, and controls. Balances complex accounts; prepares complex federal, local or state reports. Provides interpretation of accounts, methods and records for managers and officers. Provides work leadership to lower level accounting personnel on complex assignments, projects or tasks. May review their progress and work for adequacy, method of procedure.

The Center for Translational Neuromedicine is a research-intensive department, with more than $13 million in annual sponsored research expenditures. This position provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of current and proposed business operations, and oversees the ongoing review and analysis of financial performance for the Center. Functions as compliance officer responsible for interpreting and ensuring compliance of all financial requirements as specified per UR policy.

Using understanding of financial management, systems and systems relationships, decision support, and dashboard metrics, prepares and presents detailed financial reports including trending and variance analysis. Able to analyze complex data, understand relationships among sources of information, and make independent assessments. Works collaboratively with the Center and URMC leadership and other departments, to provide evaluation and support of the Center's operations and interests.

Responsibilities

The department utilizes the URGEMS encumbrance accounting system to manage finances, along with UR Financials. The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for reconciling and analyzing monthly ledgers, analyzing expenses, researching and resolving issues with unknown expenses, and preparing and analyzing month end financial reports. Manages liaison with Office of Research Accounting and Costing Standards (ORACS) for grant related activities and requirements.

Identifies when journal entries are required and prepares submission. Oversees policies and procedures for accounting systems and financial reporting. Prepares and documents instructions for changes in accounting systems, interprets data, trains other staff in accounting related matters and advises and interprets accounting and budgeting relationships. Design financial reports and statements for University management reflecting fiscal operations of specific programs (e.g. operational).

Manages faculty members with grant applications and sponsored project progress reports, including designing and developing financial reports and e- submissions. Interprets and applies University and federal policies relating to grants. Acts as the liaison with funding sponsors and University central offices including Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA) and ORACS for grant related activities and requirements.
