Overview

Do you love downtown Rochester and are interested in event planning, management, and marketing? Rochester Downtown Development Corporation (RDDC) is seeking a seasonal part-time Marketing and Events Assistant for the 2026 event season (May through October). This part-time, seasonal position could also be suited to students or recent graduates with an interest in event planning, marketing, or communications related field. Since 1977, RDDC’s mission has been to drive economic vitality downtown, fostering a vibrant, inclusive community through transformative ideas and initiatives.

As Events Assistant, you will play a key role in promoting RDDC’s numerous free, outdoor public events including Food Truck Fridays, Fitness in Washington Square, programming along the Genesee Riverway, economic growth luncheons, and more!

Responsibilities
  • Support the RDDC team and vendors in the execution of events and activations
  • Assist with set-up and tear-down of event materials
  • Support marketing efforts for all events
  • Assist with vendor and event partner coordination and communication
  • Provide weekly tracking, reporting, and follow-up of public space conditions
  • Assist the organization with general marketing and office tasks such as preparing social media content, meeting preparation, office maintenance, mailings, and other projects as assigned

Time Requirements
  • Be able to start in May 2026
  • Be available to work within a consistent schedule (approximately 20 hours per week during normal business hours), in addition to in-person event support
  • Work within a consistent schedule during normal office hours, preferably 2-3 days a week
Compensation

The pay for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00 an hour and is dependent on experience and qualifications. This is an in-person, seasonal part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week and includes occasional evening and/or weekend meetings and community events.
