Data Retrieval Specialist

Overview

This position involves retrieval, organization and tabulation of data used in the planning, research and evaluation of a school district's instructional and enrollment needs, objectives and programs. Employees of this class supervise the retrieval of data for use in projects and programs by analyzing computer printouts or manually searching through school records and reports. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of an administrator.

• 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, 1/2 hour unpaid lunch
• $23.00/hr starting
• 12 months, work summers & school breaks
• Effective Immediately
• Must be on the current Civil Service list or qualify to sit for the exam

• Oversees the retrieval and organization of student data through various educational source systems;
• Responsible for all SIRS data collection and reporting;
• Oversees applicable data retrieval for state aid reporting;
• Coordinates census data for elementary and secondary school student population;
  Compiles and tracks mobility data relative to flow of student population;
• Coordinates all activities related to the collection of all accountability data;
• Coordinates with the Special Education office on the collection and maintenance of Special Education data;
• Directs the collection of all statistical data for Basic Education Data Systems (BEDS) and Office of Civil Rights, including all necessary in-service and building coordination;
• Collaborates on data integration with technological systems such as Infinite Campus, Frontline, Mosaic, etc.;
• Serves as liaison to BOCES MAARS for state reporting;
• Attends District/BOCES meetings as requested;
• Prepares statistical reports;li>
  
  Supports additional district data reporting or analysis needs as they arise to ensure accuracy, compliance and continuity of district data operations

Must currently hold the Data Retrieval Specialist title or be on the current Civil Service Eligible list for Data Retrieval Specialist or meet the Monroe County Civil Service minimal qualifications listed below:

• Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree, plus one (1) year of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience involving the compilation, organization and analysis of statistical data, or activities associated with data retrieval; OR,
• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, plus five (5) years of experience as defined in (A) above; OR,
• An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)
