Billing Assistant

Overview:

This position supports the provider enrollment and credentialing process within the revenue cycle department. The role is heavily focused on data accuracy, Excel usage, provider information maintenance, insurance enrollment, and administrative support rather than direct medical billing.

Responsibilities:

+ Process provider credentialing and enrollment for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other providers.

+ Work with 20+ insurance carriers to ensure provider enrollment information is accurate.

+ Verify provider demographics, effective dates, and practice information.

+ Maintain and update records in internal systems and EMR platforms.

+ Research and resolve missing or inaccurate account/provider information.

+ Review reports and enter updates into electronic systems.

+ Communicate with providers, practices, and insurance companies as needed.

+ Prioritize urgent enrollment and credentialing requests.

+ Support billing operations through accurate data maintenance and documentation.

Qualifications:

+ Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

+ Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.

+ Strong communication and customer service skills.

+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

+ Comfortable working with confidential healthcare information.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Rochester, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
