Overview

Photonect is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our innovative team in developing next-generation optical fiber to PIC (photonic integrated circuit) connection technology using our revolutionary laser adhesion process. At Photonect, you'll be at the forefront of photonics innovation, working with technology that is 100X faster than traditional glue-based methods and has the potential to achieve less than 1dB loss per connection.

Role Description

This is a full-time or part-time on-site role for a Laboratory Technician at Photonect Interconnect Solutions located in Rochester, NY. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, performing quality control tests, utilizing analytical skills, and conducting various laboratory tasks.

Due to the nature of our work and its association with U.S. government-funded research, applicants must comply with U.S. export control laws and regulations. This includes eligibility under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, individuals granted asylum or refugee status, or otherwise authorized to access controlled technology as defined by U.S. law.

Requirements
  • Operate and maintain laser equipment for fiber-to-chip adhesion processes
  • Perform precision alignment of optical fibers to photonic chips
  • Conduct quality control tests on assembled interconnects
  • Document procedures and maintain detailed records of assembly processes
  • Assist in the development and refinement of our proprietary laser adhesion technique
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve efficiency and yield of the interconnection process
Qualifications
  • Laboratory Equipment and Laboratory Skills
  • Quality Control and Analytical Skills
  • Experience working as a Laboratory Technician
  • Ability to follow protocols and procedures accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
  • Associate's degree in a related field is preferred

Salary Range
: $15-$30 per hour
