Position Overview
Drake Group is seeking a qualified Site Safety Professional to provide full-time, project-dedicated safety oversight for a pipeline construction project located in New York.
The selected individual will serve as the on-site safety leader, overseeing contractor safety performance, implementing corrective actions as needed, and ensuring compliance with client safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and company gas work methods. This role requires a strong field presence and the authority to address unsafe activities or conditions immediately.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet a mix of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with 3–5 years of relevant safety experience
- 5–7 years of gas utility or pipeline safety experience, including CUSP (Green or Blue)
- 20+ years of gas utility experience and actively working toward CUSP certification
- OSHA 30-Hour (Construction)
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
- Working knowledge of confined space, work area protection, and contractor safety programs
- Ability to serve as OSHA Competent Person and Qualified Person (29 CFR 1926.32)
- Strong understanding of hazard identification and risk analysis
- Ability to work full-time in field construction environments
Preferred Certifications
- CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST
- CUSP
- HAZWOPER 40-Hour
- PHA / Process Safety Training
Additional Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be willing and able to work on-site in New York State
- Candidates located in New York or surrounding states are preferred
- Must be able to work in outdoor and active construction environments
Position Responsibilities
- Provide full-time, on-site safety oversight for pipeline construction operations
- Serve as the designated Site Safety Professional in accordance with client safety procedures
- Implement immediate corrective actions for unsafe conditions or activities
- Conduct daily field observations, audits, and hazard identification
- Review and provide feedback on job briefs and work plans
- Ensure subcontractor and contractor safety training compliance
- Support and participate in incident investigations and analysis
- Ensure OSHA reporting requirements are met
- Participate in weekly client safety calls
- Provide written weekly safety reports including:
- Incident summaries and corrective actions
- Safety meeting topics and participation
- Observation trends and mitigation actions
- Job briefing quality assessments
- HASP reviews and onboarding tracking
- Support implementation of injury prevention programs based on safety trending
