Construction Project Manager – Rochester, NY

Clients include the NYS Office of General Services, the State University Construction Fund, Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, NYC Health + Hospitals, NYC Department of Design and Construction, NYC Parks & Recreation, NYC School Construction Authority, NYC Economic Development Corporation, Battery Park City Authority, NYS Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and various municipalities across the state.

We are seeking Project Managers for current or future project opportunities in the Rochester, NY region. Candidates should have experience in Higher‑Education, K‑12, or Buildings Rehabilitation and be willing to work full‑time.

Position Description

Provide program management services for a varied portfolio of projects, including project planning, tracking, schedule performance, and project controls for monitoring building construction and renovation projects from initial planning through completion. Projects typically exceed $10 million in value.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management plus 8 years of relevant construction industry experience with public and/or private projects. Prior experience managing projects with a single value in excess of $10 million or a portfolio totaling this amount.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Higher‑education or K‑12 experience is an asset.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts, and related construction documents.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling and critical‑path analysis.
  • Proficiency in project cost management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical and conceptual skill set.
  • Experience with project management software such as Procore.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in PC applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Bluebeam).
  • Demonstrated initiative and management skills.
  • Organizational skills and prioritization ability.
  • Interpersonal and diplomatic skills where appropriate.
Essential Functions
  • Establish regular communication with design team and contractor to evaluate project progress.
  • Communicate regularly with owner and report on project progress.
  • Review and recommend payment for contractor invoices.
  • Review and recommend execution of potential contract changes.
  • Assist with dispute resolution as needed.
  • Collaborate with management, staff, clients, and contractors to manage all facets of the project.
  • Ensure retention and maintenance of records consistent with policies.
  • Manage assigned workload efficiently.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project records and reports; input and manipulate data in applications and databases.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and clients to understand scope, evaluate tasks, and build, review, and approve price proposals.
  • Schedule, manage, and attend project‑specific meetings; participate in program‑related meetings as required.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and other documents to recommend approaches to issue resolution.
  • Assist with monitoring performance measures, goals, and objectives.
  • Develop, prepare, and maintain program‑related reports, spreadsheets, logs, charts, and databases.
  • Collaborate on building commissioning and project closeout with appropriate parties.
Physical, Mental, and Visual Demands

Some travel within Western New York is expected. Exposure to weather extremes, loud noise, heights, and construction site hazards (chemicals, fumes) is required. Decision‑making may occur under time pressure. Availability for modified schedules or extended hours is necessary.

Pay Rate

$60.00 – $75.00 per hour. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, education, skills, and experience.
