Health & Safety Manager – Transmission & Distribution

Location: Rochester, NY or Syracuse, NY

Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support the safe delivery of major Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation construction projects across Upstate New York.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of utility infrastructure work. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with operational teams to deliver projects safely and efficiently.

• Lead health and safety initiatives across multiple Transmission & Distribution and Substation construction projects.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across field operations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and coaching to project teams and subcontractors.
• Support project teams with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and safe work practices.
• Monitor safety performance and prepare reports, KPIs, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, and clients to ensure safety remains a top priority.

• Proven Health & Safety experience within Transmission & Distribution and Substation construction
  .
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and utility construction safety standards.
• Experience supporting multiple field construction projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence safety at all levels of an organization.
• Ability to conduct incident investigations, audits, and safety training.
• Relevant safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, ASP, OSHA 30
  , or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Rochester and Syracuse region.
