Job Description Summary
The Professional Writing Tutor (Part-Time Temporary) in the Charles Mills Writing Center works directly with specific student populations, as reflected by the candidate's specialization and/or expertise. While candidates who can work with graduate students are sought, the director acknowledges support will extend beyond this singular demographic.
Essential Functions- Maintain regularly scheduled tutoring hours weekly.
- Work approximately 8 - 10 hours a week for the writing center.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
- Provide additional support beyond direct tutoring (ex. handouts, workshops, content creation, etc.).
- Interact with students both in-person and virtually.
- M.A. Degree.
- Exceptional recent Undergraduate candidates considered.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Candidate cannot be a current student at Nazareth University.
- M.A. Degree in English or related field.
- Tutoring and/or teaching experience.
- Experience with a variety of writing tasks.
- Experience with specific student populations (ex. graduate students, developing learners, etc.).
- The director might ask for minimal supervisory duties beyond contributing at staff meetings.
- The ability to either physically work with clients in-person or to work with them virtually, synchronously or asynchronously.
- A device to access client documents (ex. a laptop).
