Overview
Lecturer:
Mechanical Engineering. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at RIT seeks applicants for a non-tenure track lecturer position. Depending on qualifications and interests, the role may be filled at the Visiting Lecturer or Permanent Lecturer rank. Visiting Lecturers are hired on one-year appointments that can be renewed two times. Permanent Lecturers are hired on renewable, long-term contracts with a pathway for promotion from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer to Principal Lecturer.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Senior or principal lecturer levels may be considered for candidates with extensive instructional experience. The position includes teaching courses across the mechanical engineering curriculum and contributing to instructional excellence and innovative teaching methodologies. Responsibilities may also include advising, supervising co-curricular activities, developing courses and lab modules, participating in or leading K-12 and industry outreach, managing lab facilities, and serving on department committees.

- Teach courses across the entire mechanical engineering curriculum.
- Demonstrate instructional excellence and engage in innovative teaching methodologies.
- Contribute to curriculum and course development.
- Advise and mentor students; supervise co-curricular activities.
- Develop courses and laboratory modules; participate in or lead K-12 and industry outreach.
- Manage laboratory facilities and participate in department committees.
REQUIRED:
- Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively and advise undergraduate students
- Demonstrated interest in course and curricular development
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
- Ability to work in a collaborative, collegial environment and support departmental initiatives
