Position: Professional Engineering Sciences Tutor, 2025
Job Description:

Summary and Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Professional Tutors are staff who work with students to help them to develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content.

Function of Position:

* Foster the development of independent, intentional learners

* Develop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and faculty

* Collaborate with faculty on providing workshops and in setting tutoring expectations

* Adhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor Handbook

* Promote critical thinking and problem solving

* Help to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific content

* Help students understand our learning management system (Brightspace)

* Prepare students for exams and quizzes

Secondary Functions:

* Visit classrooms, as needed, to introduce students to tutoring.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science

* Experience working with diverse college populations

* Technology savvy

Preferred Qualifications:

* Some tutoring experience

Additional Information:

Pay rate is determined by candidate's degree:

Bachelor's Degree - $17/hr

Master's Degree - $19/hr

PhD - $21.00
