  • New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education (B-2), Reading (K-12), Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (K-12 TSHH), Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (K-12 TSSLD) and/or Licensure in Speech Language Pathology

Qualifications:
  • New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education (B-2), Reading (K-12), Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (K-12 TSHH), Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (K-12 TSSLD) and/or Licensure in Speech Language Pathology
  • Knowledge of curriculum and assessments, language development, and instructional practices that are play-based and child-centered
  • Preference given to those with experience at prekindergarten through second grade with a commitment to developmentally appropriate high-quality instruction
  • Understand importance of authentic assessment data to drive instruction
  • Culturally Responsive Education Training preferred or working knowledge of Culturally Responsive Sustaining Framework
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills
  • Experience with instructional planning to meet the needs of a wide range of students
  • Experience working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and families
  • Ability to establish rapport and collaborate with students/teachers with diverse needs
  • Solid understanding of language developmental milestones
Position Summary / Responsibilities:
  • Provide explicit instruction paired with multimodal supports to bridge understanding in addition to targeted play-based instruction to Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) and Kindergarten students in the areas of phonemic awareness, letter names/letter sounds, Basic Concept development, Executive Functioning support, Orthographic Mapping and writing.
  • Utilize assessments to identify areas of strength and need in foundational standards, speaking and listening, and Early Childhood developmental domains to determine instructional implications.
  • Work directly with students, teachers, and administrators to analyze student data and identify student needs.
  • Coach staff in evidence-based practices:
    Support teachers and staff to understand and implement explicit, standards-aligned language development practices and instructional approaches.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, and related service providers to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies and methods to ensure that achievement expectations are met.
  • Work with the Director of Elementary and Early Childhood Education.
