Reports To: Executive Director of Information and Instructional Technology and Digital Innovation
Minimum Salary: $85,000 (per the GASA contract)
Location: Transportation and Support Services Facility
Start Date: July 1, 2026
Hours: Administrators and Supervisors are expected to devote the necessary time and effort required to properly complete their assigned responsibilities. It is understood that such time and effort may exceed the limits of normal working hours.
Position PurposeThe Assistant Director of Digital innovation will play a vital leadership role in bridging the gap between curriculum, instruction, and technology. This position supports the Executive Director of Information and Instructional Technology and Digital Innovation in developing, implementing, and leading the district's vision for transformative teaching and learning through the use of technology. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for empowering educators through professional learning, curriculum and assessment development, and the strategic integration of technology.
ThisRole Provides Essential Leadership In Three Key Areas
- Technology Integration:
Driving successful tech integration to augment learning and enhance instruction, ensuring equitable and pedagogically sound technology use across all grade levels and content areas. - Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Guiding the ethical and effective use of AI tools to enhance instruction and personalize learning. - Digital Wellness:
Championing the district's K-12 digital citizenship and wellness curriculum to help students, staff, and families build healthy, safe, and balanced relationships with technology.
- Strategic Alignment:
Assists the Executive Director in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district's long-range instructional technology plan to ensure alignment with academic goals. - Standards Integration:
Ensures all technology integration is explicitly aligned with the New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards. - Ethical AI Governance:
Co-facilitates a district-wide committee of stakeholders (administrators, teachers, parents, and students) to refine the vision and policies regarding the ethical use of AI, focusing on data privacy and academic integrity. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Conducts surveys and focus groups of students to support implementation and instruction and represents the district's interests at administrative meetings and board presentations. - Emerging Trends:
Researches and evaluates emerging educational technologies and innovative pedagogical practices to ensure the district remains future-focused.
- Curriculum Design:
Works directly with curriculum directors and teachers to incorporate AI and digital wellness into the fabric of curriculum design and assessment. - IGNITE Oversight:
Provides essential leadership and support for the K-5 special-area class that teaches computer science and digital fluency standards through hands‑on, play-based learning. - Portrait of a Graduate Support:
Leverages technology and AI as key drivers for the Portrait of a Graduate initiative, aligning instructional practices with the six NYS attributes:
Academically Prepared, Creative Innovator, Critical Thinker, Effective Communicator, Global Citizen, and Reflective/Future Focused. - Authentic Assessment:
Establishes systems to collect evidence of student learning through authentic methods, such as digital portfolios and performance-based assessments. - Digital Resource Evaluation:
Assists in the selection and implementation of new digital curricula and hardware, vetting tools for pedagogical value and equity.
- Coaching Leadership:
Provides direct supervision, mentorship, and leadership to the Digital Learning and Innovation Coaches, ensuring their daily work in classrooms aligns with district goals. - Comprehensive Training:
Designs and delivers ongoing professional development for all instructional staff on effective technology use, specifically focusing on AI-informed instructional practices. - Specialized AI Training:
Leads training on practical AI strategies for differentiation, creativity, and feedback, as well as the ethical implications of AI. - Resource Management:
Monitors the use of the district's robust library of digital resources and support materials for staff and students.
- Program Oversight:
Oversees the K-12 implementation and continuous improvement of the digital wellness and citizenship curriculum. - Intervention Frameworks:
Partners with building administrators and student support staff to transform technology-related incidents into restorative learning opportunities through standardized intervention frameworks.
