St. John Fisher University's Wegmans School of Pharmacy is seeking a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor of Pharmacology with a 3-year contract, 12-month, renewable based on performance.

Core responsibilities of this position include:

  • Collaboratively develop and enhance pharmaceutical sciences education in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
  • Create and deliver course material and/or coordinate team-instructed courses in the campus and online pathways.
  • Provide didactic instruction in assigned courses within Pharmacology sequence (Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, etc.) following course syllabi.
  • Contribute to student orientation and immersion components of Online Pathway instruction.
  • Engage in innovative teaching methods, including lectures, asynchronous content delivery, demonstrations, and student engagement activities.
  • Participate in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and presentations relevant to pharmacology or pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues in co-instructed courses and scholarly endeavors.
  • Contribute and participate in service in the department, school, university, and the discipline/profession.
  • Mentor students in their academic and professional development, including co-curricular activities.
  • Participate in the assessment of student learning course outcomes, program learning outcomes, global learning outcomes, and co-curricular learning outcomes.
  • Participate in the interviewing of student and faculty applicants.
  • Expected workload distribution (Teaching: 60 – 70%, Service: 20%, Scholarship: 10 – 20%)

Qualified applicants will hold a Ph.D. in Pharmacology or a related discipline. Previous academic experience, especially in a professional pharmacy program, is highly desirable. Successful candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the school through teaching, scholarship, and service in an innovative, thoughtful, and enthusiastic manner.

    Proven ability to deliver effective instruction in pharmacology, utilizing innovative and engaging teaching methods in both campus and online settings.
