Desired Qualifications- Experience teaching in a 6:1+1 or 8:1+1 special class settings, supporting students with intensive or highly intensive management needs
- Knowledge of and experience implementing evidence-based instructional strategies for students with Autism and/or complex learning, social, and behavioral needs
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and progress monitoring Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Skills in providing positive behavioral supports, structured teaching approaches, and practice classroom management to promote engagement, independence, and safety
- Experience supporting functional communication, social-pragmatic language skills, and the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems
- Strong data collection, analysis, and progress monitoring skills to guide individualized instruction and evaluate student growth
- Commitment to fostering inclusive classroom environments that promote dignity, belonging, and supportive relationships for all students

The Greece Central School District is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Special Education Teacher to support students in a 6:1+1 or 8:1+1 special class setting. The successful candidate will provide highly individualized instruction and behavioral support to students with intensive or highly intensive management needs, including those with social communication pragmatic language challenges, and/or a diagnosis of Autism.
This teacher will create a structured, supportive learning environment that promotes academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and functional skills, including functional communication and Activities of Daily Living, tailored to each student's unique needs.
Aligned with the Greece Central School District's mission to foster a culture of high standards, engagement, and supportive relationships, the teacher will design and implement individualized programming that enables students to achieve meaningful academic, social, and emotional success. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with families, support staff, and related service providers to implement all aspects of each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), monitor progress, and adjust instruction to ensure positive student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a highly structured, predictable, and supportive classroom environment that fosters belonging, dignity, and positive relationships
- Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in a 6:1+1 or 8:1+1 classroom setting in alignment with New York State Learning Standards, Alternate Learning Standards, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Deliver differentiated, explicit instruction across academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and functional skill areas
- Utilize structured teaching approaches and evidence-based practices, particularly to support students with Autism
- Design and implement individualized instructional strategies and interventions to address diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure meaningful progress toward individualized goals
- Support the development and generalization of social, functional, and pragmatic language skills, including the use of Augmentative and Alternate Communication (AAC) systems
