Position:
Special Education Teacher (Wisdom Warrior)

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree in a relevant content area preferredNYS Teaching Certification preferred
Experience in classroom teaching preferred
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a diverse community
Terms of Employment Starting Salary: $50,500

Position Description As a Special Education Teacher, you will plan, organize, and implement instructional programs in a supportive learning environment that guides, inspires, and encourages students to reach their full academic potential.

Primary Functions Deliver high-quality instruction tailored to diverse learning needs
Manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning environment
Assess student performance and implement effective interventions
Collaborate in curriculum development and enhancement
Supervisory Functions Supervise support teachers, interns, and teacher aides as assigned
Duties and Responsibilities Instructional:
Facilitate student learning and communicate progress clearly
Provide direct instruction, monitor progress, and adjust teaching strategies
Align curriculum with current best practices and teaching methodologies
Provide frequent and accurate behavioral and academic feedback
Identify students at academic risk and implement intervention strategies
Use assessment data to refine instruction and support student success
Non-Instructional:
Mentor assigned teachers and support staff
Maintain accurate grade and attendance records
Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues professionally
Attend parent/teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development sessions
Supervise field trips, school clubs, and other activities
Ensure classroom cleanliness and confidentiality of student information
Related Responsibilities:
Submit annual plans and implement school policies
Participate in professional development, staff collaboration, and home visits
Perform additional duties as directed by administration
