** Responsibilities:*
* The Instructional Design Associate provides technical guidance for faculty to design and develop lessons and courses across all programs for the School of Nursing. The person in this position works collaboratively with the instructional design team, faculty, staff, and the IT department to advance School of Nursing strategic objectives. Much of this process will involve working with faculty to identify student learning outcomes, develop assessments, and plan learning activities to facilitate achievement and tracking of student learning.
After collaborating with faculty to develop or revise course and lesson plans, the Instructional Design Associate will proactively find, organize, adapt, and create interactive learning activities to support a multitude of courses and lessons. This person will also collaborate with the Center for Excellence team and program leaders to provide technical support to track student assessment outcomes in an electronic platform.
The IDA collaborates with other members of the Center for Excellence in Education to plan faculty development initiatives including live workshops, online training tutorials, and articles. Work is performed independently in conjunction with other members of the team.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
* ** Advance best practices in teaching and learning*
* + Implement best practices for course and lesson design, in collaboration with other members of the instructional design team. Includes guidelines for assessing and improving the quality of instruction.
+ Assess, manage and organize instructional materials ensuring courses are optimized for accessibility. Adapt text and word files to create tests, quizzes, and assignments in learning management systems.
+ Monitor and assess faculty and student satisfaction regarding the instructional effectiveness of current course designs, materials, and teaching strategies.
+ Instruct users on the operation of educational technologies, including but not limited to, learning management software, multimedia applications, and communication tools such as blogs, wikis, and discussion forums through e-learning modules, workshops, or consultation.
+ Create and maintain support documentation and provide guidance for faculty and students on the use of materials in content management systems, eLearning software, mobile technology and other platforms and initiatives as developed and launched.
** Development of course content in learning management platforms*
* + Collaborate with faculty to assess learning objectives aligned with best practices to enhance student learning outcomes.
+ Guide faculty with developing courses and lesson plans in accordance with online learning principles, while maintaining a consistent look and is easy to navigate.
+ Create links and upload documents to learning management systems in accessible formats that fit well within course navigation and organization.
+ Find and implement creative solutions for users with challenging educational requirements.
+ Provides troubleshooting and problem resolution with learning management system, content, and other related issues.
+ Find, adapt, design, implement, and maintain interactive multimedia learning objects, activities and assessments, using expert knowledge of learning resources to search for and adapt existing multimedia content or create new content, in collaboration with others, when none is available.
** Participate in software systems testing, quality assurance, maintenance, and upgrades. Consultation across programs.*
