As a Pre‑K4 Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in preparing young learners for kindergarten success. Work Schedule

Part‑Time, 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday 7:45am – 3:15pm)

Pay Rate

$20 - $22 per hour

Essential

Job Duties
  • Plan and implement daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for the children served while creating and maintaining a stimulating and safe learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the teaching assistant(s) to perform all required daily tasks, such as maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom.
  • Evaluate the development and performance of children in the program through the use of formal and informal assessment tools.
  • Maintain files on children to include registration data, developmental progress, testing information, parent correspondence, documented behavior problems, and any other pertinent information.
  • Maintain all reports required by the Rochester City School District (RCSD) and the agency, including formal assessments, daily attendance, and daily health checks.
  • Maintain consistent communication with parents through newsletters, phone calls, parent‑teacher conferences, and home visits.
  • Facilitate and deliver early childhood programs, committing to active involvement of families and the local community.
  • Supervise the teaching assistant(s) in their daily job duties and meet weekly to facilitate program planning.
  • Request equipment, curriculum materials, and supplies for classroom use; maintain inventories.
  • Other job duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Teacher certification in Nursery‑6th grade, Pre‑K‑6th grade, or 0‑2nd grade.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s Degree in Teaching.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Must be cleared through Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and NYS Justice Center.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of children.
  • Maintain a respectful, nurturing, and positive demeanor with children in order to stimulate and encourage the learning process.
  • Interact professionally with staff, parents, and vendors.
  • Possess strong communication and spelling skills to ensure an effective exchange of information, the ability to respond professionally to inquiries, and the ability to complete all required forms.
  • Perform data recording/record‑keeping operations by logging, filing, and/or posting single‑entry items.
  • Perform routine computations requiring knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and/or percentages.
  • Read and interpret routine written or printed materials such as charts, diagrams, maps, and/or instructional material.
  • Ability with common office machines such as copiers and/or laminators; exhibit competence with computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge in the High Scope Curriculum.
