** Description*
* The Nurse Practitioner (NP) program director (PD) is a faculty member who holds an administrative appointment as an academic program leader within the School of Nursing (SON) in addition to other faculty responsibilities, including teaching, scholarship, service and practice consistent with the URSON's unification model. Responsibilities include oversight of program needs related to students, faculty, support staff, and/or administrative matters. The PD is primarily responsible for strategic planning and the academic program in response to emerging trends in health profession education and evolving workforce needs.
In collaboration with the senior associate dean for graduate education, the program director works closely with specialty directors for the adult-gero acute care, adult-gero primary care, family, pediatric primary care/neonatal, pediatric acute care and psychiatric mental health (lifespan) assuming primary responsibility for curriculum oversight, including ongoing curriculum review/revision, curriculum innovation, and evaluation of student and faculty performance within their program.
The PD supports ongoing faculty development and works closely with the associate dean to assign annual faculty workload. The PD regularly collaborates with admissions and student affairs leaders related to enrollment management and student support services. The PD assists the senior associate dean with recruiting faculty that support the mission of the SON. The PD consistently demonstrates MELIORA and ICARE values and fosters an inclusive, equitable, and supportive work environment.
The PD engages with academic and practice program partners to support precepted clinical learning experiences, participates in professional associations, and engages with communities of interest to promote the program's visibility and stature.
** Responsibilities and Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:*
* ** Provides leadership to the academic program to articulate and support the goals of the program, SON, and university with an*
* ** emphasis on the quality of the learning environment:*
* + Interprets the policies of the SON and university and translates these policies into proposed actions for the program(s).
+ Initiates an annual review, development, and assessment of program goals.
+ In collaboration with the senior associate dean, represents the program and program faculty within the SON and URMC and maintains effective, collegial relationships with other SON and URMC programs & departments.
+ Creates and fosters an academic program climate that facilitates student, faculty, and staff engagement.
+ Encourages scholarly activities for program faculty.
+ Advocates for service to the SON, university, and the local community.
+ In collaboration with the Director of Equity and Inclusion, leads the academic program in the articulation, measurement, and fulfillment of SON DEI goals.
** Provides leadership to curricular and co-curricular academic activities of the program to create an outstanding academic program** :
+ In collaboration with all academic program leaders, coordinates the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of program curricula, including advanced certificate programs and university collaborative programs.
+ Guides a formal review of the program curriculum in accordance with SON systematic evaluation plan (SEP). completes annual NYSED reports and annual program reports
+ Reviews CEs and TEs at both the individual and program faculty level and makes curricular and operational changes as necessary.
+ Reviews current course syllabi to ensure adherence to SON and accreditation standards.
+ Encourages the development of new courses, experiential learning opportunities, and programs, as appropriate.
+ In collaboration with all academic program leaders, coordinates outcome measurements for the nursing programs.
