Position Summary:

Bryant & Stratton College Program Directors (PDs) perform both administrative and instructional duties. As administrators, PDs support the College mission and vision by overseeing the day‑to‑day management of their program areas, coaching and mentoring instructors, and ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting. As instructors, PDs follow the job description for Instructional Associates. PDs may supervise up to three programs and teach 0–3 classes per semester.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as academic leader of one or more program or subject areas.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the nursing program.
  • Maintain clinical site selection criteria to support nursing competency requirements within the legal scope of practice.
  • Implement the program and curriculum.
  • Oversee the admissions and progression of students and certify graduates of the nursing program as applicants for the NCLEX exam.
  • Participate in the campus budget process.
  • Establish the faculty or teaching assistant to student ratio for direct patient care experiences at no greater a ratio than ten students to one faculty or teaching assistant, or a smaller ratio in clinical settings where necessary to ensure the safe delivery of nursing care by students, faculty, and teaching assistants.
  • Analyze program statistics; implement strategies to improve retention, completion rates, and NCLEX participation/results.
  • Maintain resources, including but not limited to classroom and skills laboratory equipment and supplies necessary for students to successfully complete the program.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date knowledge of assigned fields.
  • Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process.
  • Organize and monitor subject‑specific campus‑wide initiatives and activities.
  • Collect and review beginning‑ and end‑of‑term paperwork for purposes of quality assurance and accuracy. Follow up with coaching as needed for continual improvement.
  • Assist in the coordination and submission of Course Review materials and complete follow‑up meetings with faculty.
  • Participate through recommendations to the campus library in library collection development to support program content and assist subject‑area faculty in the use of scholarly works in course material and/or assignments.
  • Participate in review of subject‑area student portfolios in the students’ final term prior to graduation.
  • Participate as required as a member of the academic management team(s).
  • Participate in campus‑based and community related activities as a representative of subject‑area leadership and the College.
  • Manage the hiring, development, evaluation, and termination of subject‑area instructors in collaboration with the Dean of Instruction.
  • Evaluate faculty credentials as part of the hiring and scheduling processes.
  • Establish and implement an orientation process for new faculty.
  • Ensure that all subject‑area instructors adhere to all required administrative and classroom delivery duties and requirements as outlined in the job description for Instructional Associates.
  • Evaluate and coach faculty with respect to department expectations, course development, and rigor.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for subject‑area instructors.
  • Evaluate faculty performance for promotion, retention, or termination purposes in accordance with College guidelines.
