Jewish Student Life Graduate Assistant at Rochester Institute of Technology

Job Title: RIT Jewish Student Life (JSL) Graduate Assistant [20 hours/week]

Job Description: The JSL Graduate Assistant will help re-establish a vibrant RIT Hillel through outreach to Jewish students, personal engagement, and hosting of events determined by student interests/needs. They will report to the JSL Engagement Coordinator and work closely with Hillel student leaders, the Assistant Director for Spirituality & Religious Life, and other campus stakeholders.

Responsibilities: The JSL Graduate Assistant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• § Reaching out to Jewish students with a goal of increasing participation in Shabbat services, holiday rituals, social events, and cultural and/or educational opportunities
• § Conducting one-on-one meetings with Jewish students to increase connection to Hillel and to Jewish Student Life more broadly
• § Using a variety of methods to gauge student interest in social, educational, and service-based programs
• § Working closely with Hillel student leaders and with the JSL Engagement Coordinator to tailor programs to student interests in order to enhance Jewish student engagement
• § Researching, planning, and implementing at least one community-wide program per semester intended to increase cultural literacy surrounding Jewish traditions and to help combat antisemitism

Requirements: Must be enrolled in a graduate program at RIT or at another institute of higher education.
