Location: City of Rochester

Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship seeks a collaborative, student-centered professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Internships. Reporting to the Director of Employer Engagement, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring every student gains meaningful, real-world experience through high-quality internships and field-based learning with the ultimate goal of job placement at graduation.

The Assistant Director will support all aspects of internship coordination-connecting students and employers, supporting internship supervisors, and ensuring that experiential learning (work-based learning experiences) is seamless, well-supported, and aligned with both academic and business needs. The position also includes student and recent alumni career coaching and ongoing collaboration with employers to maintain a robust network of learning sites. This includes distribution and collection of internship agreements.

This role is ideal for an educator and career professional who thrives in dynamic environments, values relationship-building, and believes deeply in experiential, skills-first learning as a pathway to career success.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Career Coaching & Professional Development (50%)
  • Provide one-on-one and group career coaching to help students explore interests, clarify goals, and prepare for internships, employment, or entrepreneurial pursuits.
  • Support students and graduates in articulating strengths, transferable skills, and personal brand across resumes, portfolios, interviews, and networking conversations.
  • Facilitate career readiness and professional development workshops on topics such as interview preparation, offer negotiation, professional presence, and career decision-making.
  • Serve as a connector between students, alumni, and employers-helping graduates remain part of the Golisano Institute talent ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Employer Engagement and the AVP for Career Development to align coaching and programming with institutional goals.
  • Leverage 12

    Twenty and other tools to track appointments, outcomes, and engagement metrics that inform continuous improvement.
Internship Coordination & Employer Relations (30%)
  • Coordinate internship placements and manage processes related to postings, applications, agreements, and compliance.
  • Serve as primary liaison to internship supervisors, providing clear expectations, resources, and ongoing communication.
  • Conduct site visits to assess learning environments and maintain strong employer relationships.
  • Manage student field experience performance and learning outcomes; gather and share employer feedback with relevant faculty and leadership.
  • Partner with the Director to strengthen employer pipelines and enhance the overall field experience program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in the Institute's CRM (12

    Twenty).
Develop and maintain relationships with current and new partners for the purpose of future internship placement (15%)
  • Attend networking events
  • Invite prospective employers to visit the Institute
  • Think of new ways to engage with a variety employers in our region
  • Interact with current partners and employers to maintain an engaging and relevant relationship with the Institute.
Program Operations & Continuous Improvement (5%)
  • Contribute to program evaluation and reporting.
  • Stay informed about trends in experiential education, workforce development, and student career readiness.
  • Support employer-based events such as career fairs and industry panels.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

  • ___ Associate's degree or equivalent experience

  • ___ Certification, professional license, or credential
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in employer relations, campus recruiting, talent acquisition or internship coordination.
  • Experience with teaching or training in postsecondary settings strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with experiential learning models, career readiness frameworks, and CRM platforms (12

    Twenty, Handshake, etc.).
EXCEPTIONAL SKILLS
  • Exceptional people skills and relationship building skills are paramount to the success of the individual in this role.
