Support Teacher Position Summary The Support Teacher provides instructional and classroom support to help meet the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of students. The Support Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school staff to provide individualized assistance, reinforce instruction, and support a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Responsibilities Provide academic and classroom support to students individually and in small groups.
Assist classroom teachers with implementing lessons, activities, and instructional strategies.
Support students in developing academic skills, organization, independence, and positive learning behaviors.
Provide additional instruction and reinforcement of skills based on student needs.
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address student needs and promote student success.
Assist with classroom management and maintaining a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
Monitor student progress and communicate observations and concerns to the appropriate staff members.
Support students with transitions, routines, and daily classroom activities.
Encourage student engagement, confidence, and participation in learning activities.
Assist with preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as required.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and families.
Ability to support students with diverse learning needs.
Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting student growth and achievement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to build positive relationships with students.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Ability to follow instructional plans and support classroom expectations.
Ability to adapt to changing student and classroom needs.
Commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout the classroom and school environment.
Ability to assist students as needed and perform classroom support duties.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and communicate effectively throughout the workday.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred.
