Position Summary InformationNazareth University Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for an Adjunct Professor of Voice and Speech to teach undergraduate B.F.A musical theatre and acting majors. The ideal candidate has professional training and teaching experience in Fitzmaurice Voicework and/or Knight-Thompson Speechwork (KTS), and is equally skilled at teaching Dialects and Accents for the stage and camera.
This is a semester-by-semester appointment with the possibility of renewal based on enrollment, performance, and departmental need.
Essential Functions- Teach one or more sections of Voice and Speech for actors, incorporating Fitzmaurice Voicework and/or Knight-Thompson Speechwork methodologies.
- Teach Dialects and Accents coursework, guiding students through IPA-based transcription, accent acquisition, and application to text.
- Design syllabi, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental and program learning outcomes.
- Coach students individually and in small groups on vocal production, breath support, resonance, articulation, and dialect precision.
- Collaborate with acting, movement, and directing faculty to support integrated production and studio work.
- Attend relevant faculty meetings, department showcases, and student performances as needed.
- Maintain regular office hours and be available for student consultation.
- MFA in Voice, Acting, or related theatre discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
- Certification or advanced training in Fitzmaurice Voicework and/or Knight-Thompson Speechwork
- Demonstrated experience teaching Dialects and Accents at the college/conservatory level
- Working knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)
- Additional training in other established voice methodologies
- Professional experience as a voice/dialect coach and/or performer
- Experience coaching dialects for film, television, or professional theatre productions
- Familiarity with anti-racist and inclusive pedagogy in voice and speech training
- Membership in Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA)

- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, speaking, listening, and using a computer or other instructional technology.
- Ability to move around a classroom, office, or instructional space as needed.
- Ability to communicate with students in person or virtually.
- Occasional carrying of light instructional materials.
