ResponsibilitiesThe David T. Kearns Center works to increase the educational outcomes of low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented minority students across the educational pipeline.
The TRIO UB/UBMS Program Manager plays a critical role in providing comprehensive support and guidance to students enrolled in the Upward Bound (Classic) and Upward Bound Math Science Programs housed in the David T. Kearns Center for Leadership and Diversity. This program aims to increase secondary school graduation rates, access to higher education and academic success among first-generation and/or low-income students The UB/UBMS Program Manager coordinates functions of the program and assists students in navigating academic, personal, and social challenges, ultimately empowering them to achieve their educational goals.
The UB/UBMS Program Manager will follow internal university and U.S. Department of Education policies and regulations, as well as policies from secondary school sites.
The UB/UBMS Program Manager provides project oversight, including advising, referrals, and information on the support services available to address student academic success. The UB/UBMS Program Manager will evaluate the effectiveness of the program’s curriculum and program activities.

The UB/UBMS Program Manager salary is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, UB and UBMS Grants. It's important to note that grant-funded positions are subject to the terms and duration of the grant. However, we are committed to providing stability and support for the duration of the grant period, and we anticipate continued funding to sustain this role.
- Supervise 2 FT Academic Coaches, UB/UBMS and 3-6 student employees.
- Leads the day-to-day coordination of the program under the supervision of the Manager, Academic Opportunity Programs (College) and UB/UBMS Project Director.
- Assist with budget management and decision‑making.
- Maintains meticulous records in database relative to student contacts and service delivery.
- Create and coordinate publication of UB/UBMS newsletter or blog to share program news and achievement with campus community and stakeholders.
- Maintains records on UB/UBMS alumni and prepares written reports.
- Oversees the recruitment, interview, and selection process of program participants.
- In conjunction with the Kearns Center Communication Specialist, prepares UB/UBMS promotional materials and press releases for area media.
