Coordinator II, Outreach and Community Engagement

The Outreach and Community Engagement Coordinator supports the Optical Systems Technology (OST) program by implementing outreach, recruitment, and community engagement initiatives that increase awareness of optics and photonics careers and expand enrollment in MCC's Optical Systems Technology degree, certificate, micro-credential, apprenticeship, and workforce training programs. The Coordinator builds and maintains relationships with K-12 schools, employers, workforce organizations, community groups, veterans' organizations, and affinity organizations throughout the greater Rochester region.

The Coordinator plans and executes recruitment events, campus visits, industry tours, and other outreach activities that connect prospective students with educational and career opportunities in optics and photonics, supporting the continued growth of MCC's nationally recognized Optical Systems Technology program. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic, highly organized relationship builder who enjoys working with people, developing community partnerships, and inspiring students to pursue rewarding careers in optics and photonics.

* This is atemporary, grant-funded position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Implements recruitment and outreach strategies to increase awareness of optics careers and grow enrollment in the Optical Systems Technology (OST) program.
• Develops and implements marketing initiatives promoting the Optical Systems Technology program.
• Coordinates all aspects of distributing information to schools, employers, and organizations in consultation with the Admissions Office and EDIWS Marketing staff.
• Coordinates and represents the Optical Systems Technologyprogram at recruitment events, career fairs, STEM events, and community outreach activities.
• Coordinates and conducts on-campus tours and visits for the OST program.
• Coordinates tours of regional industry sites for faculty, staff, enrolled MCC students, dual enrollment teachers, high school students, and their families.
• Collaborates with OST staff, College Now office, and area high schools to increase dual enrollment high school programs.
• Coordinates current OST student assistants for outreach events and activities.
• Builds and maintains relationships with school counselors, teachers, community organizations, employers, workforce agencies, veterans' organizations, and affinity groups.
• Conducts presentations at schools, career fairs, community organizations, and employer events to promote optics careers.
• Maintains records of outreach activities, community partnerships, and recruitment outcomes and prepares reports to assess program effectiveness.
• Attends Optical Systems Technology Program and Advisory Board meetings.
• Provides weekly planning updates to OST staff and faculty.
• Holds orientations once a month for the Optical Systems Technology program.
• Assists with grant activities, including data collection, reporting, outreach, and proposal development, as assigned.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Department Chair.
