DescriptionPosition Summary
The Research Assistant Professor is a part-time, non-tenure-track faculty member responsible for advancing an active research agenda while contributing to the intellectual life and programming of the Humanities Center. The position supports interdisciplinary scholarship, participation in Humanities Center initiatives, and limited teaching responsibilities. The appointment is renewable and may include opportunities for secondary affiliations with academic departments or programs.
Primary Responsibilities Research and Scholarly Engagement- Maintain an active program of scholarly research and creative activity.
- Present research annually through the Humanities Center Work-in-Progress series.
- Participate in writing groups and other scholarly development activities.
- Utilize research funds to support ongoing research and professional activities.
- Attend and actively engage in Humanities Center programs and events, including:
- Work-in-Progress series
- Workshops
- Contribute to the intellectual and collaborative community of the Humanities Center.
- Teach one course per academic year beginning in Academic Year 2027–2028.
- Coordinate teaching assignments with departmental needs, preferably within the Arthur Satz Department of Music.
- Organize and lead one major Humanities Center event during the second or third year of the appointment.
- Collaborate with Humanities Center leadership and affiliated faculty to support interdisciplinary programming and public engagement.
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly research and publication.
- Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary humanities initiatives.
- Effective teaching, communication, and event-planning skills.
