Harris is looking for an Experienced Electrical Test Engineer. This position will provide engineering support services to moderate scope tasks associated with the design and test of highly complex optical sensing spaceflight hardware. The role utilizes technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts to develop and execute test plans and procedures.
The Test Engineer supports preparation of the test environment, contributes to Test Readiness Reviews, and reviews and validates test results against requirements. Interaction with other engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for space-bound products, systems, components, or modifications is expected. The ability to follow established procedures and detailed instructions from senior staff is required.
Testing can be related to electrical, radiometric or optical performance in ambient, vibration, thermal, vacuum, or EMI environments. The engineer ultimately delivers thoroughly tested aerospace products, equipment, and systems with supporting documentation to the customer while complying with specifications and production requirements.
Essential Functions- Knowledge of standard electrical test equipment (DVMs, scopes, etc.)
- Strong communicator; written and verbal communication a must within and outside of function.
- Ability to develop and execute procedures, document results, effectively communicate orally and in writing with moderate oversight.
- Able to generate detailed technical reports, data reduction for requirement verification with moderate oversight.
- Knowledge of high reliability aerospace products test and verification.
- Supports preparation of the test environment.
- Direct contributor to Test Readiness Reviews.
- Responsible for reviewing and validating test results against requirements.
- Interacts with other engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for space-bound products, systems, components, or modifications.
- Follows established procedures and detailed instructions with minimal guidance from senior staff.
- 3 years of experience with MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post‑Secondary/Associate’s Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
- Experience working in a clean room with ESD and contamination sensitive flight hardware.
- Experience in an Electrical/Mechanical/Optical discipline in the Aerospace or Defense industry.
- Familiar with Microsoft Visio.
- Current SSBI with Polygraph.
- Basic software knowledge (LabVIEW, C++, Python, and scripting languages).
- Willingness to work overtime, shift work (nights) or extended shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Willingness to travel, up to 10% of time, work overtime and occasional nights and weekends.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $76,500 - $142,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3
