Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Operations & Production Maintenance, the Lead Operations Industrial Engineer will serve as a key liaison between the Engineering, Operations, and Production Maintenance teams driving continuous improvements in manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include managing the Industrial Engineering team, analyzing operations data, designing workflows, reducing inefficiencies, and ensuring final products meet established quality standards. The role applies Lean, Six Sigma and other methodologies to enhance cost efficiency while maintaining high quality product standards.
It also documents processes, develops troubleshooting methods, provides training, collaborates with cross‑functional teams, manages KPIs, and implements new technologies or processes.
- Participate in writing procedures for operations activities linked to new equipment/processes.
- Work with Manager and HR to implement training plans adapted to specific user profiles.
- Determine and ensure necessary documentation is in place, maintained and organized (e.g., troubleshooting guides, process flows, SOPs).
- Develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades.
- Develop and implement visual and production documentation standards in cooperation with management (5S floor zoning, furniture, line flow).
- Familiarize self with key equipment, participate in set‑up and testing, determine good practices of use (parameters, methods).
- Train staff for new processes and provide instructions and manuals.
- Represent operations on site projects/continuous improvement activities: actively participate in the definition of needs in URS for functional and technical specifications; represent plant operations during industrialization of new equipment/line; review and approve qualification and validation documents; lead action plans as necessary to meet URS expectations; identify users and assess required levels; assist in the design and implementation of LEAN practices (VSM, continuous flow, 5S, cycle time, takt time studies, ergonomic, waste definition, TPM program).
- Identify areas for improvement by collecting data or with input from the Operations Department.
- Supervise, mentor and develop the Industrial Engineering team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to succeed.
- Assign continuous improvement projects and monitor workload and outcomes.
- Organize the department to address continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, assist supervisors, coordinate workflow, provide technical assistance, resolve deviations, implement corrective actions, and develop quantitative techniques to monitor process performance (KPIs).
- Analyze management information and continuous quality improvement data to identify ways to streamline, improve process quality and compliance while maintaining effectiveness.
- Ensure timely implementation of change‑control documentation; train stakeholders on processes and changes.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Engineering or an Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills to conduct workshops.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Works effectively on a team or individually.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Preferred:
Knowledge of LEAN/6 Sigma manufacturing principles.
