Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Quality-Focused Molding Process Engineer for a contract position with a Global Life Sciences Company located in Rochester, NY. This is a 12-month contract opportunity.
This role serves as the primary technical liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and Quality, providing subject matter expertise in Injection Molding, Extrusion Blow Molding, and Injection Blow Molding. The position is heavily engaged in customer quality complaint investigations, CAPA execution, and systemic defect reduction, working cross-functionally to ensure product conformance and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Act as technical lead for customer quality complaints involving molded components, processes, or materials
- Lead investigations using structured, data-driven methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis, statistical analysis, and SPC data review
- Partner with Quality Engineering to define and implement containment plans, support complaint responses, and execute CAPAs
- Develop, document, and maintain robust, capable molding processes that minimize defect opportunities
- Provide on-the-floor technical support for quality-driven production issues and lead investigations into NCRs and deviations
- Support and execute revalidation or requalification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for process, mold, equipment, or material changes
- Author and maintain quality-critical engineering documentation, including Process Specifications, Set-Up Sheets, and Control Plans
- Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives with a quality-first mindset
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Plastics preferred) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in an ISO-regulated environment
- Strong hands-on expertise in Injection Molding, Extrusion Blow Molding, and Injection Blow Molding
- Proven experience supporting customer complaint investigations, CAPA execution, and audit responses
- Strong understanding of SPC, process capability, and variation reduction
- Experience working within formal QMS environments and familiarity with validation methodologies (IQ/OQ/PQ)
- Exceptional root cause analysis and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing-related quality investigations
- Evidence of successful CAPA implementation and effectiveness verification
- Proven ability to work effectively across Engineering, Quality, and Operations
Pay range: up to $93.99 per hour
