Job DutiesWork with developer customers, municipal stakeholders and local permitting agencies such as NYSPSC, NYCDEP, NYDOT, NY Counties, and NY Towns. Participate in project team scheduling and budgetary planning processes. Manage internal and external project resources within the project unit. Set unit goals and direction to align and execute action plans. Oversee project budgets, including O&M and capital. Analyze project unit performance and initiate actions to control scope, schedule, and cost.
Approve project plans, execute contract strategies, and authorize expenditures. Ensure compliance with project management and quality management processes. Coordinate with other departments, consultants, attorneys, utilities, regulatory agencies, and major customers. Represent the company at regulatory hearings or municipal meetings. Provide recommendations on policies and implement revised processes. Ensure utilization of the risk control system. Ensure compliance with FERC, NERC, and applicable regulations.
Attend cost and schedule meetings, work with the coordinator on risk definition, cost, and mitigation analysis, and attend executive management meetings to present reports and cost‑schedule‑risk views.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field and 6 years of progressive, post‑baccalaureate work experience.
- 5 or more years of experience in transmission and distribution utility systems, network configuration, and infrastructure.
- Experience leading a project team, including direct and indirect reports.
- Experience in risk management and mitigation plans for utility transmission and distribution projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for data analysis, budgeting, planning, and schedule optimization.
- Experience presenting utility project status and results using Microsoft Office.
- Field construction sequencing, outage planning, and supervision of field personnel and contractors.
- Experience managing projects requiring quality and environmental management processes, including spill control, site safety, and permitting.
- Four years of experience integrating scheduling IT tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6 with costs and resource requirements.
- Two years of experience in contract negotiations and vendor management.
- One year of experience estimating project budgets for utility transmission and distribution projects.
- Telecommuting permitted up to two days per week.
- Domestic travel required up to 10%.
