About the CompanyA highly respected advanced manufacturing organization specializing in precision optical technologies is seeking an Optical Systems Engineer to join its growing engineering team.
This is a highly visible role that works closely with executive engineering leadership to support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives from concept through production. You'll collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, metrology, and coatings to ensure new products are successfully transitioned into manufacturing while meeting demanding technical, quality, and delivery objectives.

- Support the successful execution of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from development through production release.
- Translate customer and engineering requirements into scalable manufacturing processes and technical work instructions.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews for optical, mechanical, and coating designs.
- Coordinate technical activities across engineering, manufacturing, metrology, coatings, and quality teams.
- Develop process documentation, specifications, manufacturing flow maps, and acceptance criteria.
- Support process validation, capability studies, first article builds, and production readiness activities.
- Assist with customer technical reviews, engineering meetings, and resolution of technical issues.
- Lead knowledge transfer from prototype development into production.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, yield, efficiency, quality, and overall process performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of engineering or manufacturing experience within precision manufacturing, optical fabrication, or other high-tech manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting or participating in New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
- Understanding of optical, mechanical, and coating manufacturing processes.
- Strong system‑thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple complex technical activities.
- Excellent communication, organization, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional engineering and operations teams.
- Experience supporting NPI programs within optics, photonics, aerospace, defense, or other precision manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience with root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and data‑driven problem solving.
- Exposure to configuration management and production process validation.
