Compensation: $40-$70 per hour, Competitive Hourly Rate (Commensurate with experience)

Position Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter / Engineer for a 4 to 6-month contract position to join our Product Development and Operations team. This hands-on role focuses heavily on 3D CAD modeling, detailed drafting, and drafting documentation remediation across our medical device product lines.
The ideal contractor will take engineered concepts, markups, and existing designs to create, update, and maintain 3D models, production drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs). You will be responsible for processing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and ensuring all technical documentation complies with medical device drafting standards and our Quality Management System (QMS)
Key Responsibilities CAD Modeling & Design Documentation Focus:- 3D Modeling & Assembly: Convert sketches, redlines, and existing components into detailed 3D models and complex assemblies using Solid Works.
- Detail Drafting & GD&T: Generate, update, and review fully dimensioned manufacturing drawings applying GD&T (ASME Y14.5) standards.
- Change Order Processing: Author, route, and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), updating revision histories, drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
- Fabrication Documentation: Prepare clean production drawings for sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, tube/panel bending, and welded assemblies.
- Tolerance Stack-up Verification: Perform standard 1D/2D tolerance stack-up analyses to verify part fitment and assembly interchangeability before releasing drawings.
Education & Experience:
- Degree: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or Manufacturing / Biomedical Engineering). M.S. is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on mechanical design experience specifically within a regulated Medical Device company
- Fabrication: Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes (sheet metal, welding, machining) is a major plus.
- Solid Works Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Solid Works (complex modeling, sheet metal module, large assembly management, and drawing creation).
- Drafting Standards: Strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, and standard drafting conventions.
- Quality & Document Control: Experience operating within medical device quality systems (FDA 21 CFR Part 820 / ISO 13485), specifically regarding ECO routing and QMS document control.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, precision-focused, and capable of handling rapid drawing updates with minimal supervision.
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
It may be modified in the future.
Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, internal equity, and location.
