At our company, we design and deliver advanced communications systems that keep military forces and mission partners securely connected worldwide. We are seeking a Digital Design Electrical Engineer who is passionate about solving complex digital hardware design challenges and contributing to the next generation of software-defined radios (SDR) and tactical communication systems. This role is responsible for leading digital hardware design and development from concept through production, partnering closely with cross-functional teams including FPGA, DSP, RF, and embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Lead digital hardware research, design, and development related to software-defined radios
- Perform:
- simulation
- prototyping
- schematic capture
- printed wiring board (PWB) understanding
- flexible circuit layout understanding
- Hands-on measurement and debugging of:
- high-speed interfaces
- digital/electrical interfaces
- Analyze electrical requirements and determine feasibility within time/cost constraints
- Prioritize issues based on:
- technical complexity
- business/revenue impact
- Drive product development activities including:
- component selection
- design updates
- ECO/change orders
- factory implementation
- Extensive use of lab test equipment including:
- oscilloscopes
- spectrum analyzers
- network analyzers
- signal generators
- Use high-level programming languages to:
- configure programmable logic devices
- control electrical circuits
- automate tasks / improve efficiency
- Perform integration with subsystems including:
- RF
- FPGA
- DSP
- embedded firmware
- test equipment
- Provide timely and thorough support to resolve issues impacting production and revenue
- Work autonomously and collaboratively with strong problem-solving mindset
- Ability to obtain US Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor's Degree + 6 years relevant experience OR
- Graduate Degree + 4 years related experience OR
- In lieu of degree: 10 years related experience
- Knowledge of emerging digital design trends (new parts, manufacturers, capabilities, analysis)
- Hands-on experience with high-speed digital communication protocols such as:
- USB
- Gigabit Ethernet
- PCI Express (PCIe)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in large engineering environments
